It's useful if you have direct or dialup IP access to the internet and if you wish is to read mail and news offline. UKA_PPP runs fine with any "SOUP" compliant OLR (e.g. Chin Huang's YARN) or with Peter Mandrella's CROSSPOINT, a German multipurpose "Point" frontend. CROSSPOINT is supported by a special script which is executed time controlled or manually, using CROSSPOINT's "Netcall" mechanism.
