Of course that short account doesn't give you any idea of how many hills I had to climb, of how wet I was, of how me legs and bum ached etc., etc., etc.

Anyway, I went out & had my first pint at an English pub & got talking with the bartender & a very fat, very English man at the bar. The I phoned Uncle Roy (by the way, I sent flowers & a thank you note from Upminster) & Uncle Russell. Uncle Russell had opened the goose by then & was also very amazed and pleased. He said that a local artist had seen it in the pub & had said that you could get about 50 or 70 pounds for it if you tried selling them

When I got back to the hostel, I had quite a nice conversation with the warden about biking since he was quite an enthusiast. He told me where I could get a new axle just down the road. I then went into the common room & met a whole group of junior high school students from American schools in the London area on a sort of field trip. The schools are for children of military personnel stationed in England.
