These pictures were taken with an 8mm camcorder and then electronic snapshots made with a Snappy video capture device. The Moon was quite red once it was in the total eclipse phase, but unfortunatly, a 3 lux camera is not sensitive enough.
These were all taken just west of Ottawa, Canada

This photo was taken with a 135mm F2.8 lens. Exposure was 30
seconds. The glow from Ottawa is to the right.
This photo was taken at Britania Beach on the
shores of the Ottawa River. I was actually in the parking lot since the park still had
deep snow. You can see street lights but the comet is still bright. This was taken with a
50 mm 1.4 lens with exposure of 20 seconds on Kodak 1600 asa colour print film. I only
have a black and white scanner. The image was blown up and cropped electronically.
Hale-Bopp taken with a 135mm f2.8 lens at 30
seconds.
This is my favourite Hale-Bopp picture. I
stood on top of a snow bank and saw it's reflection in a pond. And, this was the 37th
frame on a 36 exposure film. Almost missed this one. (Scanned in colour...Thanks Mo)
Another near miss. The sky was cloudy and a
group of us were just about to give up when the clouds lifted like a curtain. Beautiful!
