There are two kinds of book covers. Hard and soft. A hard cover is made out of stiff cardboard and usually covered with thin cloth. If there is writing or pictures on the cover, they are sometimes printed with ink or on expensive books, imprinted with brass stamps and even thin gold leaf instead of ink.

A soft cover book is almost the same except the cover is made of heavy paper rather than stiff card board and is usually printed using the same process as a magazine.
