Of course, when the T-Rex was roaming the Earth, there were no people. It's a good thing, becuase it was a very large, hungry animal. The Tytannosaurus Rex was up to 50 feet or 16 metres tall. That would be about as tall as your school.
Here is a National Geographic magazine that has a great article about dinosaurs including a picture on page 152 of a T-Rex skeleton in a museum. You can see how big it is compared to the people looking at it.
On page 176 is a picture of a man lying next to a bine, the shoulder blade, of the biggest dinosaur the Brachiosaurus
