Rocks that are in a fast flowing river or rolling on a sandy beach get shiny all by themselves with no help from people.
But, if you wanted to make an ordinary rock look shiny, it's a long job, but, can be fun.
To start with, you need a tumbler, a good book of instructions and the five different types of grit to go with it. Grit is the sandy stuff that you put in the tumbler that grinds against the rocks along with water, to make the rocks smooth.
Each level of grit is softer and softer until the last level is like powder. If you want more information, look in your school library or go to a hobby shop.
