How do they make polyester and what is in it?
Polyester is a very common substance these days. Chances are you're wearing something right now that has polyester in it.
We got a young scientist that sits just a few metres away from you in room 3 to research your question. Heather K. did some research and found these facts.
Polyester begins as something called "resin". A polyester resin is shaped into fibres by forcing it through the tiny holes of a metal disk. The resin forms hairlike strands that are cooled and then stretched to give them greater strength.
Polyester is made out of three basic things: films, fibres and plastics.
So that is how polyester is made.
