Last year I came up with an idea of running a section hiking camp to the high peaks area of Maine. After a load of
logistical planning I managed to get twelve people signed up and hiking for seven days, based out of a hunting cabin in
Stratton. A nearly perfect weather window, and an enthusiastic bunch of hikers, allowed us to hike 99 person-summits
over 4000' in elevation, and an additional 30 person-summits over 3000'.
- Day 1 - Dual traverse hike of Sugarloaf to Abraham.
- Day 2 - One group hiking Bigelow, and a second hiking Saddleback.
- Day 3 - One group hiking Crockers, and a second making an attempt on Cranberry peak.
- Day 4 - Full camp hike of Old Speck.
- Day 5 - One group hiking Bigelow, and a second hiking Burnt Mountain.
- Day 6 - Dual traverse hike of Saddleback, simultaneous with a Bald mountain signalling excercise.
- Day 7 - Three groups hiking Cranberry Peak each from a different direction.
The whole camp on top of Old Speck.
