Wednesday, July 2, 2014 - Cedar Dunes Provincial Park - 66 km
Took some time to wake up this morning as we were recovering from the excess sunshine received yesterday. The sun came up though and shone again in our
faces so we got up too. There was only about a liter of water left, so we forgo cooking breakfast and instead just ate some dry food as one of the pickup
truck dudes from yesterday returned for another load of beach rocks. We packed up and pedalled off to Tignish where we found a diner for breakfast, coffee,
and a refill of our water bottles. We now tried to find the start of the Confederation trail. After some biking around we found it, blocked off by two
locked gates and a rather unimpressive beginning to a trail which traverses the entire island. We took to the trail, fairly rutted by ATV tracks to St. Louis
where we took the road to the coast. The coast road was beautiful and very light on traffic, but also very windy. I took to biking ahead for 5 km or so,
finding a small patch of shade, and then waiting up for Katharina. At one magnificient lookout of the sea cliffs, I met a couple from Ottawa who were
driving the route. As we approached the west cape, another wind farm appeared. This was very impressive with many huge towers silently harvesting energy
from the same wind we were battling. Finally we got to West Point and with a little bit of confusion, found the provincial park. It is nothing more than
a grassy field by the ocean, but we took a nice long walk along the sandy beach and had a few beers in the local pub before retiring for the night.
Packed up and leaving the shores of Norway.
Welcome to the start of the Confederation Trail. Please keep out!

Those are freaking big windmills!
