September 13, 2017

After a failed attempt at getting breakfast out in Gambo, we returned to Eric and Lynne's to eat some bread and cheese with partridge berry jam. We packed up the final items onto the bikes and pedalled out into a drizzly day with Lynne and her great-grandson waiving from the window. We stopped briefly in Hare Bay so Katharina could purchase some new headphones for her ipod and then continued onwards to Centreville where we had a lunch of bagels and hummus in the park. We arrived in New-Wes-Valley in the mid-afternoon and took to the coast road to find some warm drinks indoors as it was very cool and damp still. We stopped at a motel restaurant and spent some time searching for someone to serve us some coffee and onion rings, after which we continued on back out to the highway. Katharina was getting quite tired so we began looking for a place to camp. After a first failed attempt down a hydro access trail, our second try netted us an abandonned quarry which should give us some shelter from the cool wind. We shivered through supper and then hit the tent to warm up. At least the rain has stopped and a band of clear sky has made an appearance on the horizon. Perhaps tomorrow will bring a little bit of better weather.

Ready to depart.
