Aug 2, 2008 - Ottawa to Temagami - Rest/Travel Day
Packed the car after a leisurely breakfast at home and then got onto the highway. As we approached Kanata, a police
van went speeding past and then blocked the road. Traffic came to a halt. Apparantly someone was trying to jump off
the bridge. I suggest that they find a taller bridge because the overpasses in Kanata are probably only tall enough to
break a leg or two if you are lucky. After sitting for a while, we did a U-turn along with everyone else and drove
back around the blockage. The rest of the drive was long and uneventful. Peroidic bursts of rain were intermixed with
sunshine. We arrived in Temagami and attempted to check into the provincial park. It was full, but we found a rental
cabin place for the evening on a small lake. Went for a swim and then had supper in town at the Busy Bee Cafe. Bought
a bottle of cheap wine and some food for breakfast, and spent the rest of the evening relaxing. The people next door
to us lit a fire, so we joined them for a bit and chatted as the night grew dark.
