Jun 6, 2009 - Manitou Lake to Kiosk - 3 portages totaling 1940 m

It rained over the course of the night, but when we got up at 05:30 it was clear again. We packed up and hit the lake about 07:00. A seagull was standing on our "bear" as we paddled away, which looked nothing more than what it was, a rock, in the daylight. A moderate wind hindered progress as we headed north, but then was quite helpfule during the eastward portions. The portages were well maintained and Katharina carried the last two. Crossing Kioshkokwi Lake was a battle north into the wind but at least we could go across instead of battling our way around. When we arrived back at the access point, our outfitter was there loading canoes onto his truck, so we gave him ours back, and chatted about the trip. We dropped back in the store later on to pick up some soveneirs. Stopped in Mattawa for lunch and drove the rest of the way home without any events. Oh yeah, we saw another bear run across the road as we left the park!
