It poured rain all night. At some point it changed to snow as we woke up in the morning with slush surrounding the tent.
Fortunately the rain had stopped by morning, but the wind had picked up and it was very cold (although slightly above zero). Matt
and I sat around drinking coffee for the first hour until the others got up and Kat and I ate a breakfast of pancakes, conveniently
prepared on the wooden counter by the fire pit. At this point the group split up. Matt and Brian wanted to take the short route
out, while the rest of us wanted the longer curcuitous route. We said goodbye and paddled ount onto the windy lake. Shortly
after starting it started snowing. Well better than rain I guess. We paddled on. At least the wind was with us. We arrived at
the first portage, the first of six. It was easily crossed. Now was a series of small lakes, with short to medium length portages
between. The weather changed between sunny, cloudy, and small snow squalls. After a few hours we arrived on Cedar Lake.
The stiff wind was making the travel fairly rough, so we climbed up the northwest arm for about a km before making the crossing.
We then basically coasted with the wind, surfing the waves for the next hour back to Brent. We arrived shortly after Brian and
Matt, so returned the canoes, then drove togetherto the diner in Rolphton for some good old greasy food.
