I have to admit that images of the 'Carnevale di Venezia' and the incredible masks and costumes were what first attracted us to Venice. When we got there we found shops and kiosks selling masks everywhere - everything from handmade in the shop to cheap knock-offs from China. Many shops had signs certifying 'hand-made here' and encouraging you to avoid cheap imitations.

Denise was determined to get an authentic mask but we ran out of time. Hint: when you find something you like - get it. There is a very good chance you won't be able to find that specific shop again.

I guess we'll have to go back.
