Laundry day!
The constant and growing influx of tourists (now an estimated 22 million of us every year) is making life in Venice more difficult and expensive and driving out ordinary, working Venetians. Away from the tourist sites and hotels, however, you can still find private residences and apartments.
Above right is the equivalent of any Canadian working class neighbourhood with streets lined with cars and pickup trucks.
