The pigeon on the left casually walked into the shop. Nobody paid any attention to it and it turned and left as unhurredly as it had entered.

We stopped for coffee in the S. Elena district and this bird (top centre left) came along to see what was on offer.

Top centre right: Many people had birds singing in their windows.

Occasionally, we would see cats sitting watching the goings on in that quiet way that cats have. The cat in the second storey window on the right had the best view (compare to the next page).

We saw dogs everywhere. Most were small like the one shown above. These dogs were seldom on leashes and would make their own way through the crowds, occasionally wandering off to check something out and then dashing off to catch up with their owners. The dog above is waiting outside a restaurant.
