The image above is the view from the hotel terrace looking toward the Rialto bridge. 'Our' waterbus stop is in the lower left. Across the canal, among the blue-striped poles, is a water taxi. Toward the lower right you can just see the stern of a gondola (much more about them later).

The Rialto Bridge is, next to gondolas, the most famous symbol of Venice and attracts tourists from early morning until late at night. The bridge is lined with shops and crossing it can sometimes be a bit of a trial.

The image at right is a view of our hotel as seen from the Rialto bridge. Our room is toward the back and required us to climb 78 steps (Denise counted them) and negotiate numerous twists and turns. Our legs are now in great shape.

Can you see Denise looking around for me? She had gone to our room to get something and I went onto the bridge to get a picture of her as she came out of the hotel.
