Brussels

Denise taking a last look around the Musée Royaux des Beaux Arts.
Even the simple act of looking out the windows of our apartment takes on a special significance - we know that we will experience moments of disorientation during our first few days back home when we glance out a window, any window, and don't see the street scene that should be there.
Wandering the streets, we see the beautiful and/or interesting details which we are painfully aware we haven't seen often enough for them to even begin to fade into the background of daily life as they probably have for many of the permanent residents of the city.
It can be a difficult time.
We know that we will experience pleasure and relief when we walk into our home where everything is familiar and comfortable and exactly where we expect it to be - but we also know that it won't be long before we're longing for the unfamiliar and the unexpected view.
Until then...

Denise looking out from our apartment. Note that we had our own TinTin mural. The three windows on this floor are all ours ...and the apartment was deeper than wide! Yes, it was very comfortable.
Just around the corner from us - where Verlaine shot Rimbaud. Oh those crazy poets.
Chocolate and other essentials available here.
The beautiful Tropismes Bookshop in the Galéries Saint Hubert.
Our last day... enjoying a cup of coffee in the calm, beautiful upstairs cafe of the famous Wittamer Chocolate and Patisserie in the Place du Grand Sablon.
