Our tale begins with Howie the Handyman, sweeping up after the big show. And what a mess it was! If you have a minute, Howie will tell you about it. Desiree Devine, a struggling diva and lunch waitress, has found her big break in show business. She's the star of an avant-garde show tune, going up at the Grand Imperial Theatre! But things change when her ex-boyfriend, SlowSlide Sam, strolls into town. SlowSlide, a jaded and faded rock star, just wants a nap ... or so he says. And Desiree wants him gone, fast! ... or so she says. Could she still have the hots for this cool cat? Never! She's got it made with Beauregard Blake, a professionally educated thespian of impeccable taste, and insufferable ego. Boy, is he rich! Beau and Desiree sing "Make Me Happy" ... and it seems, they are. But at what cost? Things get worse. SlowSlide is conscripted into Desiree's big number by Frau Ingrid Schultz, the playwright. Despite his protests, Frau Schultz will not take no for an answer! Her innovative cultural masterpiece is opening in less than 24 hours, and it's chaos! HOWIE! The piano! the lights! the budget! the corpse! As a big storm builds up, one disaster follows another ... and Frau Schultz confesses a dire secret. And at the last minute -- will the show go on? Will love triumph? Will dreams crash ignominiously into the gutter? Will the corpse shut up and die? Will Desiree give the show of a lifetime ... or will her heart be broken ... again? Making Necro is a wickedly funny bit of frippery, with house-rockin live music, from blues to burlesque to boogie to Broadway; a beautiful love song, a naughty little twist, and a heartwarming tale of love and hope, for everyone old enough to know better ... but young enough to dream.
