MUSIC Guy Del Villano

Composer/Entertainer

As the one-man Orchestra for "Making Necrophiliac", Guy works his magic from the sidelines. He accompanies all songs, does background vocals, instrumentals and even live foley effects such as thunder. His compositions for the show include sultry jazz, a beautiful love song, rollicking burlesque and more, to keep the show movin' and the people groovin, from the opening notes to the grand finale!

Guy is passionate about his music. He can write a tune at the drop of a hat, and plays piano, guitar, accordian, pennywhistle, two rocks ... just about anything he can get his hands on.

Three decades of playing the blues, from one end of Canada to the other, have infused his music and stage performance with power, grit and vitality.

Guy's irrepressible blues piano style has earned him several awards, including a Juno. He has played with Bo Diddley, Back Alley John, Drew Nelson, Dutch Mason and others, and many of his arrangements are used by other bands. As a sideman, Guy doesn't often get the spotlight -- he's jokingly referred to as "the most famous bluesman you've never heard of"!

Originally from Timmins, Ontario, Guy now lives in Ottawa. He likes to meet people, and often goes out busking with an old acoustic guitar.

Comments on Making Necrophiliac

Guy says:

... "Making this show is like being in a 1940's musical. It's as much fun to watch, as it is to make.

Maureen's script and lyrics make putting the music down a simple task. The actors become the characters.

The characters, in turn, take the songs and make them their own."

Guy works individually and ensemble with the cast to bring out vocal and performance strengths. Comfortable with beginners and experienced players alike, Guy enjoys teaching, and says he learns a lot from his students!
