Touring Information
The Motorcycle
The following is a list of possibilities
with regard to the motorcycle itself.
- Transport your own motorcycle either by sea or
air. You can either use a motorcycle shipper or handle the task yourself. If
you use one of the recognized motorcycle transport companies, all the work
is done for you. If you don't want the hassles, this is the way to go.
If you plan on returning to Europe, then you may want to ship the motorcycle
yourself. The first time around may be challenging, but the second time
around will be a breeze.
- Rent a motorcycle upon arrival in Europe. I
found Knopf Motorradreisen to have the best prices. See my "Links"
page. You will have to contact the rental company to get details about
rental rates, mileage charges, insurance deposits if any and whatever else
is included such as hard luggage, tank bag, etc.
- Take one of the organized tours listed in my
"Links" page.
- Purchase a motorcycle upon arrival in Europe
and then resell it prior to departure. I do not have any information on this
subject.
- Purchase a motorcycle from a dealer that will
buy it back at a agreed upon price. I do not have any information on this
subject.
- Borrow a motorcycle from someone if you are
that fortunate. You can also have someone that you know make the purchase
for you, register it in their name and then borrow it as required.
I do not know how you would go about
making a purchase either at a dealer or from a private individual and
registering the vehicle as a non-resident.
Insurance
If you choose to bring your own
motorcycle or purchase one there, you will need to obtain " International
Green Card Insurance". This is available from the following agencies.

I would think that automobile clubs in other
European countries would also provide "International Green Card
Insurance".
