Do you notice how that the all day meetings are scheduled for weekdays? Two consecutive weekdays. Every month!

If you are a regular working engineer, can you afford to take this amount of time off to sit and listen to people talk?

retirement lane So, what kind of engineer has this amount of time?
One look at a photograph of PEO Council will tell you.

In the last chapter newsletter (and website), I had written:

What incentive is there for our acclaimed representatives to respond to the needs of the members when there is no pressure to do so? How can our profession respond to its current needs when there is a lack of energy in our governance? We need people who understand what the current engineering fields are and have a vision of the future. Our profession needs to be brought up to date; we need young practising engineers to bring their ideas and take an active role in governing our profession.

The sitting councillor, Thomas Chong complained to PEO's lawyer:

Also I would think if the acclaimed candidates saw his comments on the Scarborough Chapter website, they may be offended as well.

Thomas was right. Some councillors were offended. Truth hurts. Unfortunately,  "the truth does not change according to our ability to stomach it." - Flannery O'Connor (1925-1964)
