Democracy can be difficult to control. It has to be carefully managed. Otherwise we can get upstarts saying anything they want. We need rules. Lots of rules.

Rules like these are very important to maintain the dignity of Council. If one dissenting member opens his mouth, the whole house of cards may come crashing down.

Governments that behave in this fashion are generally not thought kindly of.

Sadly, this is the culture of PEO. Natural Justice is one phrase they seem to have never heard of.

Since PEO's 2008 "Central Election and Search Committee" has decided to cast the first stone, here is a little trivia for glass houses.

The Central Election and Search Committee is supposed to search for and encourage election candidates so that we do not have a one horse race. In this election, every regional councillor position was about to be acclaimed. In other words, they failed, and miserably at that.
Not only did they fail in their mandate, but they actively tried to dissuade at least one candidate for President-elect from running against their choice candidate for President-elect. I'm not naming names, but their choice of candidate can be found by searching the election statements.
On 7 November 2007, I was approached by a senior PEO councillor and asked to withdraw my candidacy so that there would be an acclamation for East Central Region. Any normal democratic electoral system would not consider this acceptable, but guess who writes the rules for volunteers.
