GILL, M. I. Cecilia (nee SEPPALA)
Passed away peacefully at the age of 82 on Thursday October 18, 2007
at the Glebe Centre in Ottawa with family at her side.
Born July 7, 1925 in Helsinki, Finland,
she emigrated to B.C. at the age of 2 with her parents
Johannes and Meri Seppala (nee Nuotio).
Beloved wife of the late William Daniel of Vancouver, B.C.;
loving mother of Bruce (Jocelyn) of Ottawa, Ontario and
David (Kathleen) of Rockford, Illinois; and
grandmother to Danielle.
Predeceased by brother Keijo and survived by sister Norma Mattson.
Will be remembered fondly by nieces and nephews:
Lorna, Doug, Robert, Gayla, Kerry, Lori and Carol; and
many other relatives.
Seija, as she was affectionately known to her Finnish relatives,
graduated from John Oliver High School in 1943 and
worked for several years with the Unemployment Insurance Commission
in Vancouver before marrying Bill in 1950.
She was active for many years with the English Bay Sketch club,
sketching and painting landscapes in oil for over a quarter century.
Her love of music was evident in her 40 year subscription
to the Vancouver Opera Association.
The family thanks the devoted staff at the Glebe Centre (Lindenwood)
for their wonderful care over the past 3 years.
Cremation by Pinecrest Remembrance Services, Ottawa.
An internment service will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Burnaby, B.C.
at a future date.
In lieu of flowers,
a donation to the Alzheimer Society, Diabetes Association,
Glebe Centre or your local opera association
would have pleased Cecilia. |
