Francis SKILLEN and Mary KERNS / KEARNS

New January 28, 2004:

My gggrandparents Francis and Mary Skillen came to Lowe Township about 1835 and settled
on a farm below Brennan’s Hill. My ggrandfather John took over the farm from his
twin brother James who apparently went to the USA. I know that Francis and Mary’s
eldest child Anne married a Matthew Synnot in 1848 at St. Stephen’s church Old Chelsea
and relocated in Wisconsin where she died in 1913., The second child Catherine married
Denis O’Sullivan and lived out her life in Lowe. I have no idea about the other children
who including Elizabeth b. 1835; Maria b. 1842; Margaret b. Nov?Dec. 1844, baptized
St. Paul, Aylmer June, 1845 and married , same church to Flamingo Gaspari, 1864;
Letitia b. 1849, baptized St. Stephen’s Chelsea  and Ellen b. 25 Dec.1851, baptized
in St. Camillus church, Farrelton. Any information about these children of Francis and
Mary Skillen would be much appreciated.

I believe that John O'Rourke was related to my Burns ancestors from Osgoode
Township. My grandfather's farm was originally settled by a John O'Rourke in the 1840's.
In the mid-1950's, my family used to play euchre with Father Thomas O'Rourke and Bud
Farrell who came from Farrelton.
