SAMANTHA

Hi! My name is Samantha, but you can call me "Sam", "Sammy", or "Sambo" for short.
My sister, Tabatha and I were born in Kamloops, BC in October 1993. We were left at a veterinary clinic when we were just 4 or 5 weeks old, and Sharon rescued us!
She then moved us to Calgary with her, and after that to Ottawa, where we live today.

I am a Domestic Short Hair, with soft grey fur, and green eyes. I should have longer whiskers than I do, but Tabatha gets carried away when she grooms me, and my whiskers are the first to go. Sharon is always telling me how cute I am. Every time Sharon is sitting down....whether she is on the couch, the floor, the bed, or at the kitchen table...I can be found on her lap as I am a very cuddly feline with people I know well and trust. I do tend to be shy around strangers though, and hide on top of our 6 foot tree, or in any other place where I feel invisible.

Sam This year Sharon was planning on taking me to the clinic where she works to clean my teeth. That sounded scary at the time...but I was let off the hook! She did a blood test on me first, only to find out that I have a hyperthyroid. Everything else about me is normal, but this was enough to make her forget about my teeth for a while. They are not that bad anyway, she says, so we are not too worried this year. Whew!

But now Sharon tells me that I must take half a pill each morning, to keep my T4 levels normal. As I am only 7 years old....and I have many years ahead of me yet :-) to have to take a pill every day...Sharon is considering giving me a radioactive iodine treatment, as a cure! But with that, I would have to be alone in a strange clinic for at least 10 days, so I am a good cat, and take my medicine with no fuss!

My favourite passion in life is FOOD!! I like to eat!! I try to ask for at least 3 meals a day, and on Sharon's days off...I get fed even more frequently! She cannot resist my sad cries.

I am a happy cat, with a great sister, and a great mother who loves me. My wish for this world is that there be no more stray, homeless cats. They all deserve a home such as I have. I wish I could invite them all in to my own basket.
