2024 OFO Convention Trip to Point Pelee: September 25

We left Ottawa on the morning of September 25. To break up the long drive to Toronto, we once again stopped at the McLaughlin Wildlife Reserve in Oshawa. We saw Mute and Trumpeter Swans, gulls and some shorebirds – a Semi-palmated Plover, a Pectoral Sandpiper and a flying Spotted Sandpiper. On the hike, we saw some Northern Flickers and a few Monarch Butterflies.

We drove on to Toronto where Colin & Hilda met us at the door of their condo. We dropped all of our luggage so Hilda and Barbara could manhandle it to the elevator and up to the 19th floor. Meanwhile Bill and Colin parked the car in the underground parking garage. This sneaky maneuver avoided hauling everything down the short but awkward stairs from the garage to the elevator.

Bill had prepared a beef stew and rhubarb pudding for supper, which were quickly heated in the microwave. Barbara admired the amazing sunset from the 19th floor balcony.
