BIRD of the DAY: Orange-billed Nightingale-Thrush

First thing in the morning, Bill checked the van but could not find his hearing aid. Luis called Chencho, the boat driver and left a message for him. Then everyone, except Chris who was in sick bay, got on board and we headed out to do some road birding on the Tecuitata Road in the hilly countryside outside San Blas and near Chacalilla village . It was hot work. We returned to San Blas for lunch at “McDonalds” restaurant and bar.

Luis got a call back from Chencho to say that he had found the hearing aid in the boat, so Luis drove us over to his house nearby to pick it up. Whew! Then we returned to our hotel to join our group for siesta time.

Back to work. We drove to San Blas beach – some good birds but more no-seeums were in waiting. Once again we had a beautiful sunset over the ocean.

We enjoyed another excellent dinner at our hotel. Note that our guide, Chris, ordered toast – he is recovering from a bout of gastro. It’s good to see him back in action. Pat was a pharmacist so she had provided him with some good advice. Also, Luis contacted a doctor who arrived on a motorcycle with more medication. It wasn't long before Chris was pishing in the birds for us.
