Hungary-Slovakia Birding Trip: August 27- September 10, 2012

Day 1 Monday, August 27: Budapest, Hungary

We arrived in Budapest a few days before our friends Ross and Margaret Ann. Ross had carefully planned a birding trip in Hungary and Slovakia. We were pleased to join them and to enhance our awareness of European birds. Last October we spent an amazing week with Robert Crnkovic, who guided us along the Adriatic coast of Croatia. http://web.ncf.ca/ed143/Croatia/Croatia%20Val%20Tours.htm

Early in the morning we flew over Budapest with a good view of the Danube River twisting its way under bridges as it glided through the city.

Monday was Bill’s birthday so it was a good day to relax and orient ourselves to this beautiful historical city.

We sampled the delicious Hungarian goulash soup for lunch. We soon learned that paprika is a favorite spice and is always available on the table. The beer and ice cream are good too!

And, of course, we were on the lookout for birds.
