Day 1 September 15 -
Departure
At the Ottawa airport we met fellow birders Rick and Sharon. This was a long travel day, leaving Ottawa at 8:15am Sunday and arriving in Beijing via Detroit on Monday at 2:40pm (Beijing is 12 hours ahead of Ottawa). It took 13 hours to fly north over Baffin Island from Detroit and then south to Beijing. We were happy to arrive on time.
