Alaska Cruise

Flying and kayaking
Day 6 May 19, 2014

Today we would enjoy excursions from Ketchican.

Early in the morning we docked. The weather was misty. A few eagles welcomed us.

It wasn't long before Rick, Cathy and Bruce were far above us on a Misty Fjords Seaplane tour. They loved their sightseeing tour which featured mountains, water and a bear!

When they returned, they enjoyed exploring Ketchican.

Meanwhile, we linked up with our Tatoosh Islands sea kayaking excursion. A van picked us up and we headed up the coast. About half an hour later we arrived at Southeast Exposure Outdoor Adventures and met our guides. A speedy motorboat ride brought us to the islands. We were fortunate to see some basking harbour seals en route. Soon we were in kayaks and paddling around the islands looking for starfish. A few Marbled Murrelets accompanied us. As expected, we loved the paddle and being on the ocean for a few hours. After a snack, we retraced our steps back to Ketchican.

We settled back in on our ship and exchanged our stories over dinner.

Bill’s special bird sightings today

1. Bald Eagle
2. Marbled Murrelet
