From noon to 12:30 on Friday Sept 14, 2001 more than 100,000

Joint Statement by Ottawa Religious Leaders

We the undersigned, representatives of the faith communities of our capital city, stand united in our horror and grief at the overwhelming tragedy that has struck the people of the United States of America, our good neighbour.

We grieve with the people of New York and Washington. Their pain is our pain.

We pray for the recovery of those who were injured in this terrorist outrage. We pray for the souls of the departed, and for the healing of the loved ones they have left behind.

We condemn in uncompromising terms this diabolical evil. We pray for the elimination of evil, and for a world in which all people live in peace, in harmony, and in security.

We call on the entire community to continue their praying, and to help our friends to the south, including giving blood at the Canadian Blood Services.
