Ice Storm Client Relief Program
I have received the following instructions from my management, and if you
may be eligible for the relief described, please contact me immediately - Tony Copple, (613) 591-3903.
TO: All Representatives in Quebec, Ottawa, Kingston Regions
CC: Region Coordinators
FR: IG Management
In our efforts to help clients affected by the recent ice storms,
we are implementing a Client Relief Program effective Tuesday,
January 20, 1998. We are here to help with your clients' unique
circumstances and support you in your efforts to offer assistance.
Representatives should follow these guidelines for any clients who
may need help as a result of the ice storms:
Mortgage or RRSP Loan Payments
For clients affected by the storms who may experience temporary
hardship in making their current mortgage or RRSP Loan payments:
Provide the specific details of clients in this situation to your
Region Manager. Your Region Manager will contact staff designated at
QSO or Head Office to determine a solution based on the client's
circumstances.
Head Office will ensure that no default notices for mortgages or
RRSP Loans are sent to any clients located in the areas affected by
the ice storms for the next 3 weeks. After that time, notices will
be reviewed before being sent to these areas.
Client Account Redemptions
For clients who need immediate access to their investment assets to
begin repairs for themselves or to assist family members:
Provide the specific details to your Region Manager. Where the
money is reasonably expected to be required for storm-related relief,
Region Managers are authorized to waive redemption fees or penalties
on funds withdrawn from mutual funds, GICs, Share Purchase Plans,
Step by Step accounts, etc.
Region Manager approval must be received for fee/penalty exemptions.
Head Office is working to ensure that no default or NSF notices are
sent to any clients in the areas affected for the next 3 weeks for
missed payments on contractual investments or dollar averaging
programs. After this period, notices will be reviewed before
being sent to these areas.
