WINCHESTER THRILLED BY NATIVE SON

-- Ottawa Sun

Eighty-nine-year-old George Beverly Shea is "tickled pink," and the town of Winchester is "proud as punch" of their native son.
It turns out that Mr. Shea, the long-time musical soloist of the Billy Graham Crusades, was born and spent his early childhood right here in the valley, in Winchester. The Winchester Press points out in this week's edition, that the world-renowned singer was born in 1909 in a home at 555 Main St. and later spent his childhood years at a home his family moved to on Gladstone St. in the village. And if you're a Winchesterite who thought you'd spotted Mr. Shea a few times over the years, you're right. He tries to visit his birthplace at least once a year.
