ANOTHER WORLD DAILY SYNOPSIS.

October 26, 1987

Julie Ann reported to Amanda that Sam loathed his new runner.

Cass came to Tops looking for Nicole. She said she was on her way to ask Michael for the money. He stood between her and the elevator.

As John and Donna stood over Victoria, assuring each other that That Old Carrot and Peter were to blame for her condition, Lisa burst in with Michael on her heels, saying Victoria was calling her very strongly. Having concentrated for a minute, she declared in puzzlement that Vicky was thinking of gardenias. Donna said they had used to be her favourite flower and went to phone Marley. Michael went after her.

Amanda gloated unbecomingly. She gave Sam a message from Mac Cory. Mac wants to chat about a certain memo Sam doesn't recall. Naturally Amanda is more closely acquainted with his files than the new runner, who simply threw them out. She beamed.

Donna bit her fingernails. Michael found her not calling Marley and wondered about the significance of gardenias. Donna didn't think there was any point in it. Michael said it frustrated him to know all his money couldn't help Victoria. He refused to let Donna drop the search for her attacker. She went to phone Marley.

Cass forbade Nicole to go to Michael. He felt That Old Carrot would react badly. Nicole said Michael was no turnip. Cass said That Old Carrot would fight too dirty. Nicole's appointment arrived too early and prevented her leaving. Wally asked Cass why he was gambling so out of character. (Not so much that it's out of character for Cass to gamble, but he should have better sense than to set up a game with strangers and then stand them up, which is how he explained his injuries.) He accused him of making it up. Cass toppled far enough to admit gamblers hadn't got him, but wouldn't say who had.

Donna fretted about gardenias. John told her it proved that Peter was That Old Carrot's mole. Peter arrived with a huge red bouquet.

Mac told Sam how wonderfully competent Amanda was and said he was foolish to have let her go. Sam said he'd felt Amanda was overqualified. Mac was inexplicably hearty. Amanda smiled broadly. Mac took Sam into his office and told him he didn't appreciate being called archaic and close-minded because he didn't change his cover when Sam said he should. Sam apologised for writing the offensive memo. He offered to quit.

Wally continued to badger Cass. Cass found out that Nicole had ditched her appointment and rushed to the hospital. He said she was bringing trouble on herself.

John and Donna whispered about proving that Peter was the mysterious photographer. John decided to search Peter's room for the negatives. Peter rolled up. They made awkward conversation during the course of which they found out he would be out with Peggy tonight.

Michael watched Lisa watch Vicky. Lisa told him Vicky wanted to tell him something. Michael held her hand. Vicky's mouth moved. Lisa said Vicky loved him.

Amanda interrupted Mac with an urgent folder. Its contents proved that Sam was right. Sam rejoiced. Mac told him that it wasn't archaic or close-minded to base his actions on surveys and facts and things. He said he wouldn't fire him and asked him to design a new cover for approval. Sam was confident that his would be chosen over any others.

Cass got to Nicole before she got to Michael. She told him to leave things to her. John left for home. Donna said she'd be by later to help. Adam appeared out of nowhere to chat about Craig. Donna put him off. Adam raised an inoffensive eyebrow. (Craig is a guy who says he saw Donna on the dock. She says he didn't. Who ought to know, eh?)

Victoria ceased to communicate. Michael is unshaven. Lisa suggested they take a break. They got a message that Adam was waiting to see him. Lisa said she'd stay.

Sam thanked Mac and assured him he had brilliant ideas. Mac went to a meeting. Amanda came in and let Sam know how much he owed her timing.

Cass asked Nicole to discuss this. Adam looked uncomfortable and asked Michael if Donna could be hiding something or protecting someone. They agreed that Donna was making a very big point of taking the blame. Adam said he'd keep investigating. Cass told Nicole she'd regret using Michael.

Donna arrived home after Peter left. John insisted she stay downstairs as lookout. She said she hated this deception (ugh).

Amanda asked Sam for the real reason he'd fired her. I hate her teeth. She suggested that she disturbed him emotionally. He stared at her mouth.

Cass warned Michael that it would be dangerous to lend Nicole money.

Peter came back unexpectedly. Donna tried to prevent his going upstairs.
