Cass overheard Nicole thanking Drew on the phone. She giggled too much for Cass' taste. She told him Drew had decided to invest. Cass said they wouldn't take his money.
Matthew said Bay City High wouldn't work. Mac and Zack came home. Mac was surprised to see Matthew there. He had to take a phone call so he couldn't investigate. Matthew had to leave for school. Rachel smiled and warned him he'd used up all his chances. "Don't blow it. Have a nice day."
Lisa struggled with a computer. She asked Adam for help. She was uncomfortable when he stood close to her. She said she didn't think this would work.
Sam and Amanda went to the hospital for her checkup. They ran into Jamie with Vicky volunteering close on his heels. When Sam and Amanda dispersed, Jamie told Vicky he wanted to talk to her about the watch. She made him feel guilty for rejecting her gift. He tried to explain. She suggested that Lisa was responsible for making him hurt her. He said he liked her and she didn't have to give him anything. She said she was sorry if she had created any problem. He assured her he didn't think she had meant to. She fiddled with his collar. He disengaged her. She wanted him to assure her they were still friends.
Adam stopped Lisa leaving the office. He said they had to talk. She fretted. She said she didn't think they could work together and fled.
Nicole yelled at Cass for being jealous. She said she wished he'd grow up. He brought up a hypothetical Yvette. Since Nicole didn't know she was hypothetical, she turned bright green and ran off at the mouth. She said he might be right about Drew, but she said he mustn't scheme. He rushed off. She made a phone call.
Mac looked worried. He told Rachel he could lose Cory. Zack went on ahead. Rachel was vague about Matthew. Mac kissed her goodbye. Loretta won't be at Ada's surprise party.
A couple of guys at school sneered at Matthew. A cute girl accused them all of being immature. Matthew admired her but made no headway.
Sam enjoyed the sonogram. He and Amanda slobbered all over each other joyfully. Amanda asked Jamie about his problems with Lisa. He told her not to worry about them. Sam and Amanda left. Jamie disappeared. Lisa came in and asked after him at the nurse's station. The nurse was busy and had to rush off so she gave Lisa pencil and paper to write a note to Jamie. Vicky saw her do it.
Nicole met with Scott to talk about her trust fund. He told her it had been invested in a stable company which had unexpectedly gone bankrupt. She realized That Old Carrot had planned it to spite her.
Mac squeezed Cass in. He asked him to take his job back to help avert the takeover. Cass said he was tied up with Nicole. He asked about Kathleen's royalties. They won't be coming in until late summer. Cass decided against asking Mac to invest, because of the takeover, I suppose.
Donna visited with Nicole. Nicole told her That Old Carrot had scuttled her trust fund. Donna told her she'd been told she shouldn't try to have any more children and she wasn't marrying Michael.
Mac made urgent phone calls. Adam dropped by and offered to leave because Mac was busy. Mac insisted he stay. Adam told him his troubles. He complained about Jamie's insensitivity. Mac advised him to stay out of it. He advised him to come to Ada's surprise party even though Jamie and Lisa are supposed to be coming. Mac told Adam what he knew about Matthew.
Will and Chris continued to razz Matthew, who had become a timekeeper for the debating society in order to get to know Tina better. Will and Chris warned him that it was social suicide. They said they would let him hang out with them so he wouldn't look like a jerk. Their motive was ulterior: they know a girl who wants to meet Matthew so they figure if they bag him for her they'll get a friend of hers in exchange. Matthew had a date with Tina.
Vicky found out Jamie was going to a family party. She lifted Lisa's note and doctored it. It had read: Dear Jamie, I have decided you are right. We need time apart. Everything has gotten so complicated. I'm going away and will return soon. Love, Lisa.
Matthew and Tina discussed the two-minute mark with passion. [By which I mean not that they yelled, but that they put their faces close together to do it.] Hilda showed in Chris and Will and a bunch of other students. The debates are supposed to revolve around Star Wars, as in SDI. Chris and Will had brought the movie. Chris [or Will] tossed the cassette across the room. It broke a vase.
Donna said Michael thought marrying her was the right thing to do. She doesn't want him to have to regret it. Nicole said Michael loved her more than anything. Donna wrote Nicole a cheque. Nicole was reluctant to take it but Donna insisted.
Matthew put another vase in the broken one's place. The gang has disappeared, but the family's coming thick and fast. No Lisa expected. Matthew took a secret phone call. They heard Ada coming and hid. When she came in they leaped out and yelled "surprise." Ada turned around and walked out. She returned cautiously and berated them for surprising her without an occasion. Everyone toasted the family and called for Ada to make a speech. She said more or less they drove her crazy and she loved them.
Nicole adored her cheque.
Cass phoned someone named Frankie about his financial situation.
Adam played piano. Mac made everyone assemble for a photo. Jamie was called to the door. Vicky was delivering Lisa's note, which now read: Jamie, I've decided that you were wrong. We need to be apart. Everything has gotten so complicated. I'm going away and may not return. Lisa. Jamie had to rush back to the photo. Vicky turned to go.
