A FRESHWATER FISH BELIEVED TO HAVE DISAPPEARED FROM A LAKE ON THE ATERTON TABLELAND, IN FAR NORTH QUEENSLAND, IN THE 1980S HAS BEEN REDISCOVERED. THE LAKE EACHAM RAINBOW FISH WAS BELIEVED TO HAVE BEEN WIPED OUT BY OTHER INTRODUCED FISH AND THE ONLY SURVIVING SPECIMENS THOSE KEPT IN CAPTIVITY IN THE HOPE THAT THE LAKE COULD BE RESTOCKED.
