Windows computers run at a standard resolution of 96 dpi, and I have no idea why (might be related to the dpi of some early CGA/EGA/VGA screens?). Because of this, objects that are displayed under Windows will appear to be 133% of their printed size. I can't tell you how many times I see students in the lab set their type size to 9 pt on a Windows workstation (appears to be (9 * 4/3) / 72 = 1/6" on screen) and wonder why it looks so tiny when printed (9/72 = 1/8" on paper).
Centered paragraph:
Treffen sich zwei Planeten im Weltall. Sagt der eine: "Du siehst aber
schlecht aus. Fehlt dir was?" Sagt der zweite: "Ach mir geht's gar nicht
gut. Ich hab' Homo sapiens." Tröstet ihn der andere: "Mach dir keine
Sorgen. Hatte ich auch mal. Das geht schnell vorbei."

Pre formated text:
O Canada Ô Canada
O Canada! our home and native land! Ô Canada! terre de nos aïeux,
True patriot love in all thy sons command. Ton front est ceint de fleurons glorieux!
With glowing hearts we see thee rise, Car ton bras sait porter l'épée,
The True North strong and free! Il sait porter la croix!
From far and wide, O Canada, Ton histoire est une épopé
We stand on guard for thee. Des plus brillants exploits.
God keep our land glourious and free! Et ta valeur, de foi trempée,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee. Protégera nos foyers et nos droits,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee. Protégera nos foyers et nos droits,

When death did not exist, nor yet eternity,
Before the seed of life had first set living free,
When yesterday was nothing, and time had not begun,
And one included all things, and all was less than one,
When sun and moon and sky, the stars, the spinning earth
Were still part of the things that had not come to birth,
And You quite lonely stood... I ask myself with awe,
Who is this mighty God we bow ourselves before.
(1879, Translated by Corneliu M. Popescu)

The only constant of modern times is change...
