They were discussing their bizarre encounter a few days earlier... Like what the eyes were and where that silly looking monster came from. (Unfortunately, Setsuna had fallen earlier that day, and sprained her wrist, and was in great pain... The doctor had given her some codeine, and the pain had dissipated a bit. Setsuna Meiou was a few bricks short of a full load.) "So all you could see were the eyes?" Luna questioned them. "Yeah... Like we weren't meant to see the rest of her face." Rei remarked. "Although, she reminded me of someone I knew, but I can't place the face..." Setsuna picked up a stone, and giggled. She bent over, and started drawing on the ground with it. It was the kind of stone that was like chalk, leaving a mark on a surface. Haruka and Michiru cast her a questioning glance, then decided she wasn't going to act her age, and turned back to the discussion. "Whoever she was, I think it's a safe assumption that she'll be sending more of these creatures to Earth. We'll have to keep a watch out." Haruka said. "I think it's another safe assumption that they will be much stronger than the one we fought." "Agreed." Ami said quietly. "I've analyzed what little information I could record. The image being projected was certainly not coming from our dimension... Possibly another." "So, how can we tell when another youma has come to earth?" Makoto inquired. "I don't know... Give me a minute." Setsuna had finished drawing on the ground. Usagi and the others looked at what she had drawn on the ground. Setsuna stood there, looking at her work of art triumphantly. Then she picked up another rock, and tossed it on her drawing. The girls suddenly realized what their confused cohort was doing: playing hopscotch. Minako shook her head. Setsuna was *definitely* out of it. "I hope they don't choose now to attack again," Artemis said, "because otherwise, we'll have one very silly Senshi." "What about everyone except me changing back to normal that night?" Chibi-Usa asked. "I wish I knew. The woman behind the eyes was probably responsible, though." Ami answered. "That still leaves the question of why Chibi-Usa didn't change back with the rest of us." Michiru said. "I doubt we'll find out for a long time." Usagi piped up. "I can make a program on my computer which will alert us to any further dimensional portals opening. That way, we can discover when another youma attacks." "Do it, Ami-chan." Rei stated. Setsuna was hopping across the squares on the ground on one foot. She bent over to pick up the stone, but lost her balance. She landed flat on her face. Makoto had to suppress a laugh. -**- The ruler was pacing on her throne. She was mad. When she was mad, you didn't necessarily want to get in her way. She had been like that since she had commanded the drain on the Sailor Senshi's powers. "*Why* didn't it work on that short pink-haired one?" She demanded. One of her warriors stepped forward. "My Queen, we didn't know she existed in that universe. However, the next time they attempt a transformation we will be able to get a lock on her and drain her too." The Queen finally sat down. "Good," she smiled. "Prepare another 'surprise' for them." The warrior saluted her and said, "Yes, my Queen." -**- Setsuna still hadn't become any less silly. Now, she was jumping rope instead of playing hopscotch. "Well," Artemis sighed, "at least she's in one spot where we can see her." Ami's computer shrieked. "What is it?" Haruka inquired. "The program I set up a few minutes ago seems to be working. I am reading a portal right now... Again, in the downtown area, but this time, in a park." "Let's go, shall we?" Minako asked. The group of girls started running. Michiru realized that Setsuna wasn't paying attention, and ran back. She yanked on her arm, and Setsuna started following. -**- The Senshi halted down the street from the park. "Is it still there, Ami-chan?" Usagi asked. "Yes... Definitely a youma." "Let's go!" Chibi-Usa shouted. "Uranus Planet Power, Make Up!" "Neptune Planet Power, Make Up!" Setsuna was kicking a rock around, not realizing it was her turn. Makoto walked up beside her, and whispered, "Setsuna-san, transform..." Setsuna blushed when she realized what was happening. "Pluto Planet Power, Make Up!" "Mercury Star Power, Make Up!" "Mars Star Power, Make Up!" "Jupiter Star Power, Make Up!" "Venus Star Power, Make Up!" "Moon Prism Power, Make Up!" "Moon Cosmic Power, Make Up!" The transformed Sailor Senshi ran towards the park. -**- "My Queen, we've locked onto them." One warrior reported. "Excellent. Prepare to initiate the drain." "Of course, my Queen." -**- They hid behind a tree. Sailor Mercury's computer was scanning the new pest. It was tall, very tall... The thing looked more or less like a hawk with an attitude. Currently, it was ripping trees down and zapping them with some sort of energy for not reason at all, it seemed. "Best plan of attack?" Sailor Neptune asked quietly. "Surround it." Sailor Mars replied flatly. "Attack from all sides." "She's a tactical genius!" Sailor Pluto pointed at Mars, still kind of high on codeine. "Sailor Chibi-Moon, walk out and distract it somehow." Sailor Mercury whispered. The hawk-thing was glancing around at everything. Fortunately, there were no people there tonight. The Senshi deployed themselves, while Chibi-Moon got ready to do her part. She walked out, and shouted, "Hey youma!!" The youma turned and glared at the short pink-haired girl. Chibi-Moon made a face at it. The hawk growled, and raced at her. That was a mistake, because she whipped out her little wand and yelled "Pink Sugar Heart Attack!" Small pink hearts were whipping around it. The hawk tried vainly to brush them away, but only succeeded in making it worse. The hearts flew even faster. "Burning Mandala!" Sailor Mars screamed from her vantage point. Small rings of fire whipped at the hawk-thing and dissipated the hearts. -**- The Queen sat in her throne, watching the ongoing battle. "Commence the drain on the two who just attacked." -**- Sailor Chibi-Moon watched as her pink hearts were burned by the fire rings. They weren't the only things burned, either. The youma now had black marks etched across its beige feathers. It was shrieking in agony. Suddenly, she realized that her wand was disappearing. As she looked down, her whole costume was fading away. Something came to her. She pulled out her little brooch and shouted "Moon Prism Power!" It had a temporary effect. She tried again, this time adding "Make Up!" Same thing. To protect herself, she ran and hid behind a tree. -**- Sailor Mars smiled with satisfaction as her attack had the desired effect. Looking at Chibi-Moon, she saw the little girl trying to transform again. As Rei looked closer, she saw Chibi-Moon's uniform disappearing. Rei looked at her own uniform and saw that it too was vanishing. She muttered a curse and ran to find one of the other Senshi. Sailor Mercury ran out, and shouted "Bubble... Spray!" She launched a barrage of bubbles in the direction of the youma. A fog developed in the park. As she completed the attack, however, she saw her uniform vanishing. Realizing that without being transformed, she was vulnerable, Ami ran to where the others would be. Ami and Michiru had coordinated their attacks, and as Ami ran, Michiru yelled "Deep Submerge!" A blue globe of energy screamed at the youma. The globe exploded in blue, and knocked the youma down. "It's strong!" She commented. She went to rub her hand against her forehead, then discovered her glove was no longer there. Michiru looked down at the rest of her costume, but saw only the clothes she was wearing before. Like the others who had lost their powers, she ran. -**- "My Queen, we have successfully drained 4 of the 9 Senshi." "You are to be commended on a job well done. Continue the operation." "Yes, my Queen." -**- "World Shaking!" A giant yellow ball of light crashed into the ground and thundered at the youma, who didn't even see it coming. The ball was like a bowling ball, hitting the youma like a pin. Haruka, moving back to stay out of its sight, was approached by a panting Michiru. "Ha...ruka-san..." She breathed, trying to catch her breath. Then Haruka saw that she wasn't in her Senshi costume anymore. "What happened?" Haruka asked. "I attacked the youma... Then my uniform faded away." Michiru looked at Haruka's face and gasped. The tiara on her forehead was also fading away, just like her own uniform. "No!" Sailor Uranus saw what was happening too. "Damn!" she muttered. "Let's go find the others." -**- Sailor Jupiter held up three fingers. One by one, she moved them down, signaling to Sailor Venus a countdown. After she had finished her count, Jupiter stepped out into the open, and held her arms out as if she was holding an accordian. She brought them together as lightning crackled around her. "Sparkling Wide Pressure!!" She screamed. A small lighting-white disk of electricity flew like a frisbee at the hawk-thing. The lightning engulfed it, leaving Sailor Venus free to make her attack. "Crescent Beam!" Minako thrust her right hand in front of her as a beam of light shot from her hand. It hit the hawk dead on. It now lay on the ground, trying to get up. It stood up, wavering a bit. Just then, Jupiter and Venus heard Setsuna's voice say "Dead Scream". A pink glow struck the hawk, sending it back to the ground. As they did a high-five, both of them noticed the other's uniform fading. "Aw, hell." Makoto sighed. "Let's go find Sailor Moon, quick!" -**- Setsuna had just done her part. Now she was picking up little rocks and throwing them up in the air, trying to hit them with the Time Staff. She tossed a rock up, and was just about connect it with the Staff when the Staff phased out. As she looked down, she saw herself wearing her street clothes. "Now how am I supposed to play baseball?" She whined. -**- Sailor Moon hid behind a tree, waiting for her friends to finish their attacks. Chibi-Usa walked up behind her, and Sailor Moon jumped. "Don't *do* that!" she rasped. "Sorry Usagi-chan. But, I seem to have a little problem..." Chibi-Usa gestured at her clothes. Suddenly Usagi realized that the little pink- haired girl was not in the Senshi uniform. "What happened??" Sailor Moon asked, puzzled. "I don't know. I attacked, and before I knew it, I transformed back." Rei ran up, out of breath. "Usagi... Wait... Power... Being Drained." she managed to say between breaths. Soon all of the Senshi, including a very bored-looking Setsuna, were gathered around Sailor Moon. Each of them explained what had happened. Usagi silenced them all. "It's time to get rid of this pest. Stay here." And with that, Usagi had left to confront the latest youma. -**- Sailor Moon crept up behind it, trying to be quiet. Her plan failed, for she had just stepped on a stick and snapped it. The hawk turned around to see a very sheepish Sailor Moon. She decided to wing it. "Uhh, hold it! I am not going to let you terrorize this park any longer! I am the soldier for love and justice, Sailor Moon! On behalf of the Moon, you're gonna get it!" The hawk-thing snickered. It launched itself into the air, despite numerous injuries. It flew around, passing Sailor Moon at each possible turn. She had to dive out of the way most times because it was close to hitting her. Eventually, Usagi got bored playing the game it was playing with her. She touched her tiara, and gently pulled it off. Holding it in her hand, the tiara began spinning, and metamorphosed into a glowing disc. Sailor Moon pulled her arm back, and yelled "Moon Tiara Action!" as she launched it into the air. The disc stayed on course, and her aim proved to be accurate as the disc struck the hawk squarely. It fell to the ground in a heap. The youma would not surrender easily, as it tried to stand up again. "You don't know when to give up, do you?" She asked. She pulled out her wand. Spinning in circles countless times, Sailor Moon eventually shouted "Moon Spiral Heart Attack!" Small threads sprang from the wand, and little hearts flowed along those same threads. The youma, who had now managed to stand, stood laughing at Sailor Moon. "Nothing can defeat me!" it laughed. "And now, you will lose your power!" It all came together. The whole thing had been one big trap to drain all the Senshi of their powers. They obviously needed to be put out of the way. Who was doing this, though? Why? Whatever the motives, Usagi Tsukino wasn't going to be defeated this easily. Her uniform and wand began to phase out. Her uniform itself was losing its cohesion, reverting back to the ribbon-like state. She smirked. "So, you think that I, Sailor Moon, Princess Serenity of the Moon Kingdom, can be put aside so easily? I don't think so. You haven't seen my real powers yet!" Sailor Moon brought out the Grail. She held it above her head, even as she was transforming back tp being Usagi. With any luck, the Grail's powers would keep her as Sailor Moon for as long as she needed. She winked at the youma. "Crisis Make Up!!" The lid of the Grail lifted open, and thousands of tiny butterflies erupted from the Grail. They flew all around Sailor Moon, tying the ribbons back to her uniform, giving her uniform cohesion again, and transforming her into Super Sailor Moon. The youma was now truly frightened. The toothless cat had suddenly grown claws to fight with instead. "I am Super Sailor Moon!" Usagi said. She put one hand on her hip. "Do we want to try this again, from the top perhaps?" She taunted it. The youma realized that there was little chance of coming out alive. So, it decided a suicide attack might be the best bet. Wings beating furiously, it lifted up into the air, and dived straight at Super Sailor Moon. Usagi stepped out of the way, and held her wand out so it would catch the youma and bring it to a halt. The hawk ran straight into it, and fell to the ground, wheezing. Super Sailor Moon had dropped the wand, however. When the hawk discovered that she was unarmed, it got up again, and walked very slowly towards the defenseless girl, its hands now glowing with the white light of electricity. The hawk's advance was stopped by a red streak. A rose was imbedded in the ground. -**- "My Queen! We have managed to drain all but one of the Senshi, and she has somehow avoided it!" One of the warriors sadly reported. Bad news was not taken well. "What? How?" She demanded. "Sailor Moon avoided it somehow, by holding a small cup of some sort. She shouted something, and transformed. She calls herself Super Sailor Moon." The Queen pondered it. Somehow she had found it... A cup? It could only be the Grail of legend. But if she had that, wouldn't it be conceivable that she would have already found them...? No, the Queen concluded. Impossible. "Very well. Attempt to lock onto that energy source and drain it, too." The warrior saluted her. "I live to serve." Surprising. The Queen normally would have exploded by now. The warrior shrugged. -**- Super Sailor Moon quickly glanced around to find her sharply-dressed ally. He always showed up at the right moment... As she looked to her right, there was a shudder of movement in the opposite direction. Nearly giving herself whiplash, Usagi's head spun around. Surely enough, Tuxedo Kamen was making a grand entrance. "Tuxedo Kamen-sama!!" She squealed in delight. "The lovely park around us is here for the enjoyment of peaceful people. We treat it respectfully, and in return, we have a beautiful place to relax and enjoy our time. You have no place to destroy this quiet area." He always seemed to come up with those speeches on the spot, Usagi contemplated. He was so dreamy... Usagi went into a trance. The youma laughed mercilessly. Its hands started glowing again and it shot a burst of blue electricity at the masked man. Tuxedo Kamen leapt out of the way and flung another rose at the monster of the day. The rose struck the creature in the arm, embedded deeply. It screeched. "Super Sailor Moon, quickly!" he shouted. "Huh? What? Oh - yeah. Sorry!" Usagi snapped out of her trance, and ran to pick up the wand. Super Sailor Moon spun around once again, so many times it was hard to keep count. "Rainbow Moon Heart Ache!" A ribbon spiralled out from the glowing center of the wand, with heart emblazoned on it. A rainbow caused by the ribbon swept over the youma. It was too late. A large heart exploded around the hawk-like creature, and it exploded it a large puff of smoke. "Gotcha!" Super Sailor Moon said triumphantly. -**- The Queen watched eagerly as Super Sailor Moon commenced her attack. Such a large source of energy was the easiest way to lock onto any of the Senshi. As soon as she completed the attack, the Queen could drain all the energy the Grail had produced! That caped man looks like someone I know, she thought. -**- The Sailor Senshi ran out from their vantage point behind the tree. Usagi welcomed them, and they all congratulated her. Mamoru took off his hat and mask, and walked over to join them. WHat he saw next puzzled him. Super Sailor Moon's uniform was fading. Disappearing from existence. He could see what Usagi was wearing that day, because she was losing the uniform and getting her street clothes back. The others saw it too. Usagi looked and gasped, not sure what to do. There was a flash of light behind Mamoru. He whirled about. The rest of the Senshi did the same. The eyes were calling again. "Well, Sailor Senshi. You have done well against my latest surprise. I'm actually impressed that you could defeat my Electric Hawk. Many before you have tried and failed miserably." "What do you want from us this time?" Makoto demanded. "Nothing much, just your transformation energy. I'm afraid that now none of you can become the Sailor Senshi. Such a pity. Such a waste." "What do you mean?" Rei shouted. "I mean, that I have drained every little speck of your worthless energy. You can't transform at all. Go ahead and try. Nothing will happen. Even the power of the Silver Crystal has been drained, Sailor Moon." The eyes were beginning to annoy them all. Usagi blinked. The Crystal was drained of its power? She opened the cover of the brooch. It was there, all right, but it looked dull. There was no glitter or shine emanating from its insides. "How dare you!" "It was necessary. Now nothing can stop me. When you engaged Split Personalities, I was testing my special device. I had a hard time getting a lock on that small one," -referring to Chibi-Usa- "and when you became Super Sailor Moon, but when you attacked, I managed to achieve a lock." The Sailor Senshi looked as if they had been told they were sentenced to death. They might as well have been. "I'm sure you will all find something to do after I take over your world. In fact, it might not be a long wait. Whoops, look at that time. I have to go plan the easy takeover of your pitiful world. Toodles." With that, the eyes disappeared once again. Ami, who had been hiding near the back with her tiny computer, finished typing something in. "Well, what was that, Ami-chan?" Michiru asked. "Some sort of inter-dimensional warp... A kind used only in communication. She's definitely from another dimension." "What can we do about it?" Mamoru asked. "Not much. I don't know of any way we can get into her dimension, especially now that she claims our power has been drained." "Let's put that theory to the test." Haruka said. She stepped back a few feet. "Uranus Planet Power, Make Up!" the blonde girl yelled, holding her wand. Nothing happened. "Jupiter Star Power, Make Up!" Makoto held her wand. Nothing. "I said, *MAKE* *UP*!" Still nothing. "Try the crystal, Usagi-chan!" Minako suggested. "OK, here we go. Moon Cosmic Power, Make Up!" Like Haruka and Makoto's attempts, not a single thing happened. Usagi frowned. "Let me try that again." This time, she put all her effort into it. "MOON COSMIC POWER, MAKE UP!" She didn't transform, but something else happened. The crystal began glowing, and changing colors. The glow enveloped everyone, including Mamoru. Everyone lost consciousness in the curious glare of the Silver Crystal. -**- To Be Continued in Episode 3: The Revelation, Part 2
