Minor Weekend Activity

Another week has gone by.

Best in Show

Not too much to report, other than a good movie: Best in Show, a docuparody of a dog show, with excellent characterization.  I found it good (would see it again on TV), but the audience liked it a lot (judging by the laughs) and my mom raved about it.  Eugene Levy and Cathrine O'Hare are two famous actors you might recognize.

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be much else in the way of good movies on right now.  Any suggestions on what to see?

Short Films on the Internet

By the way, I've been looking at a few short movies recently, on the Internet (the advantage of having a cable modem - Video on Demand is here!). The best of the bunch currently is George Lucas in Love, which is much like Shakespear in Love except that it follows the young film maker at university as he bumps into people and situations which later show up in his films.  If you have the time, have a look at:

http://www.mediatrip.com/film/movies_on_demand/308.html

I find that the RealPlayer version has better quality sound, the Windows Media Player one has high pitch compression artifacts.

Oh, second best would be http://www.405themovie.com/ about an airplane making an emergency landing on highway 405 in California (on top of someone's SUV), and third would be Troops (Star Wars troopers as a "Cops" episode) http://www.theforce.net/troops/index.shtml.
