Soyez bienvenus. Les traductions sont en cours. TROUT is a dual-language fish, a small magazine which publishes writing from across Canada, at the same time open to writing from the oceanic currents of the world. In the future we hope to have a fully electronic version of Trout. In the meantime, the grand and tactile tradition of the printed word provides you with fully readable Trout at the following locations (Toronto: Pages, Book Den, Tower Records, Tequila Bookworm), Vancouver (sold out), Paris France (WH Smith and Canadian Bookstore); Ottawa (most stores) for only 4 dollars. This will be worth much money as a collector's item. Catch it now or forever regret it!

Our first issues, as with most newborns, have cranky tempers, but promise a fresh look on the writing planet. TROUT has already brought some international writers to surface as well as Canadian writers such as Paul Keen, Lucia Taddio, Matt Firth.

Trout swims among busy intersections, lurks in a dark alley. The word evokes that of a deep-dwelling, elusive entity, indigenous to Northern waters. En francais, trou (hole) and route share the limbic layers of etymology with Trout. S/he is therefore not stuck in a hole but open to the currents of the world. Trout is not afraid to bite. Keep an eye out for the lake's surface.

Future issues include the following themes: humour, erotica, garbage, free speech and nature. We are very interested in francophone contributions, both poetry and prose, Magic Realism, Novel Excerpts, Non-fiction, New Urban Writing, fiction up to 3000 wds. Electronic submissions welcome.

Submit your poetry, prose, reviews, opinions, subscriptions (10$ for 3 issues) to TROUT magazine at this link: Send me your stuff or comments here
