The Man From U.N.C.L.E. was an adventurous secret agent show that aired on television between September 22, 1964 to January 15, 1968 which starred David McCallum as Illya Kuryakin and Robert Vaughn as Napoleon Solo. In 1960, Danager Man premiered in Britain as a 30-minute spy thriller. Secret agent John Drake confronted the enemy and solved cases while under the veil of the Cold War. If James Bond was your type of movie, then how about a television show based on all the similar trappings that were found in those Bond films: espionage; sex appeal; and a sprinkling of action fights between the good guys and the bad guys. Secret agent action could always be found in The Avengers television series. The two principal actors were Diana Rigg who played Emma Peel and Patrick Mcnee who played John Steed. Mission Impossible aired in September 1966 and continued until September 1973. The I.M.F. (Impossible Mission Force) were a team of government spies and specialists who were assigned the most dangerous missions imaginable. The series always began with an opening statement from a mysterious "Secretary" on audio tape who described the purpose each new I.M.F. mission. When the mission's briefing was over, the audio tape would self-destruct since the "Secretary" would disavow any knowledge or action related to the I.M.F. The Prisoner is a television series that appeared on British television in the late sixties. It starred Patrick McGoohan (the star of Secret Agent, who almost beat out Sean Connery to be cast as the first James Bond) as a former spy who’s been whisked away to a Kafkaesque island prison called The Village. Provocative, witty, and thoughtful, in its brief run The Prisoner developed a ferociously loyal following that continues to this day.
