After 5 months in Canada Maverick returned home to California after the 2004 US National Specialty in California. Four weeks before leaving for Alabama, Maverick earned his AKC CD title in 3 straight trials. At the Specialty he qualified in all the performance events he ran in including earning his first AKC CDX leg and earning his NSDTRC-US WC title.
4 titles and the start of a 5th in only 5 months of training,
not too shabby for a 13.5 month old pup!
| NEWS FLASH - Maverick earned his CKC WC on September 18th! This qualifies Maverick for the NSDTR Club of Canada "Doberstein Award" which requires the dog to have a CH, CD and WC. Maverick is just 1 year old! |
After finishing his AKC Championship at 7.5 months of age Maverick flew to Canada at the end of May 2004. He's our little world ambassardor - born in Australia to Swedish and Canadian parents, living in California (www.javahill.com), training in Canada! This guy has travelled more than I have!
The apple hasn't fallen far from the tree and there are many things about Maverick that remind me of his sire "Blue". We are in for a great summer of training towards his WC titles in Canada and the U.S.
On the weekend of August 28th and 29th Maverick started
and finished the requirements for his CD title. After only 6 weeks
of obedience training he came away with scores of 186, 184 and 191 under
judges known for their sharp pencils and under grueling outdoor show conditions.
He earned 2 third placings and 1 second placing in the Novice B class.
Maverick will celebrate his first birthday on August 31st!

| Before leaving for the weekend
I thought I'd try my paw at redecorating the kennel building. I think
I have a real flair for this stuff!
|
| Then it was time to get on the
road. "Hey, Donna, I have the keys but you have the thumbs!
Let's get a move on!"
|
| The weather was kinda hot and humid
but it didn't rain too much and we did some field training. I keep
meaning to get a new Roy Gonia whistle but this duck one works okay.
|
| I'm not real sure what was happening
but we kept driving to this dog show, and I came away with three rosettes
and something called a CD title <shrug> I just love playing with
the rosettes though!
