The Studio 208F is a high-quality speaker cabinet for performance, studio, and practice applications with a variety of amplified instruments. It features a deep and spacious soundstage, with a fairly neutral response and excellent attack. Smooth and jazzy, rather than a hard rocker. Little breakup when pushed. The speaker is well suited for detailed work with electric or acoustic guitars or with stringed instruments in general - it should work a treat with an electric violin.
This cabinet uses two FaitalPro 8FE200 8" pre-audio speakers to produce a very neutral sound. Do not let the 8" speakers used in this cabinet deceive you - they are high-power, professional, mid-bass speakers with excellent performance for their size and price. Frequency response is quite linear down to about 60 Hz before beginning to roll off, well below the frequency of an open E-string (about 82 Hz). The cabinet is tuned to match the speakers and for a smooth frequency response. Unlike most compact speakers, this unit is conservatively rated for amplifiers in the 100W range at 16Ω nominal impedance.
The cabinet is covered with sand-coloured Tolex (Nubtex), with a black cloth grill. Approximately 23" wide x 19.5" tall x 14.5" deep; weighs about 50 lb. This cabinet is not suitable for use with a bass guitar.
