National Capital FreeNet, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Loading the dospppd (epppd) packet driver. (using PAP and simulated bootp) Setup. 1. Read the documentation in the DOCS directory. 2. Edit pppd.cfg to suit your system. [If you are not using the NCF as your ISP, edit the "domainslist=" and "domain_list=" lines in wattcp\wattcp.cfg and the "domain=" line in ncsa\config.tel. ] Method 1. Using a terminal program as a dialer. 4. Use your terminal program to dial NCF. (Do not use a script) 5 When you get CONNECT, exit your terminal program without hanging up. 6. Run pon1.bat to load the packet driver. 7. If you get "Connection failed.", go back to step 1. 8. If you get "Ready!", go to Testing. Method 2. Using chat as a dialer. 4. Edit chatscr to suit your system. 5. Run pon2.bat to dial up NCF and load the packet driver. 6. If you get "Connection failed.", go back to step 1. 7. If you get "Ready!", go to Testing. Testing WATTCP 9. Run tcpinfo.exe to check BOOTP. 10. CD to the WATTCP directory and test ping.exe (Ping local hosts such as www, news, etc.) Testing NCSA 11. Run bootpchk.exe to check BOOTP. 12. CD to the NCSA directory and test ping.exe Unloading the packet driver 13. CD to the main directory and run pktstat.com to check for errors. 14. Run poff.bat to unload the packet driver and hang up. This basic setup can be used to run other DOS TCP/IP programs, including Arachne, Lynx386, and NCSA Telnet.
