Deck
I build this deck, based on what I have learned volunteering at Habitat for Humanity and asking questions of many supportive friends. Due to the height of the deck a building permit was also required and I found the people a the city to be helpful in resolving a few challenges I faced.I built the foundation (digging, concrete) in fall 2008. My yard has a lot of underground wires, including a large hydro line, and several phone and cable lines so it was recommended that i did the holes by hand rather than using a power digger. Getting a power digger into my yard might have been a challenge anyhow. I dug the hole using a clampshell post hole digger, shovel and a heavy digging bar. Had to remove a few large rocks along the way.
