The Musculoskeletal System
Musculoskeletal System
- The musculoskeletal system is made up of all the bones in your bodu and the muscles that make them move.
Muscular System + Skeletal System
- The bones and muscles work together to provide structure, support, protection and movement.
- Some bones protect internal organs and the brain
- Some bones contain marrow to produce red and white blood cells
- Bones store calcium and other minerals that are needed

Three Types Of Connective Tissue That The Skeleton Is Made Up Of
- The skeleton is made up of three different types of connective tissue: Bones, Ligaments, Cartilage

Bones
- Bone tissue is hard and dense. The bone cells are surrounded by minerals (calcium and phosphorus) and collagen fibres
- There are canals inside bones that contain nerves and blood vessels

Ligaments
- Ligaments are tough elastic connective tissues that hold bones together at joints
- Ligaments are made up of long fibres of collagen.
Cartilage
- Cartilage is a dense connective tissue found in the ear, nose, esophagus, joints and back.
- It provides a strong, flexible, low friction support for bones and other tissues.
The Muscle System...
- Muscle tissue is made up of bundles on long cells called muscle fibres. The muscle fibres contain specialized protiens that contract to when signaled by nerves

Three Types Of Muscle Tissue
- Cardiac Muscle
- Skeletal muscle (voluntary), attached to bones by tendons to allow for movement
- Smooth Muscle (involuntary) (stomach , intestines)
